Over the past months MacIsaac Hall has become a working reality. Everything is painted and the flooring and lighting is installed. The bathrooms and locker rooms are complete. Basketball hoops, score board and divider curtain are up; the beautiful logo has been painted on the floor, and the bleachers and score table are all in place!
MacIsaac Hall is one of the most impressive buildings on the monastery grounds of Saint Benedict Center. Almost unbelievably built by the Brothers, sometimes only three on the site, working day after day. As you can tell by the photos below, it’s been a labor of love and generosity from donors, too
To all outward appearances activity at MacIsaac Hall, now blanketed in snow, seems to be at a standstill; but do not be deceived. Unless the Center’s truck is busy snow plowing it can be seen almost every day parked outside MacIsaac Hall along with many other vehicles. Within the walls, the Brothers and builders are getting down to the “nitty gritty” of all that makes such a facility usable.
After all the plans were approved, the ground was broken for the new gym-building project on the feast of the Miracle of the Sun at Fatima, October 13, 2010. Since then the facility slowly taken shape, as the Brothers, volunteers and various construction workers chip away at it. We are so excited to see the project nearing completion and look forward to having our various school and monastery events in it!
