The new school year began for IHM students and faculty on September 7, 2011.

With full classrooms, and a great spirit from grades 1-12, we are looking forward to another wonderful academic year during 2011-2012! Please pray for a safe and happy year! Study hard, students!

Studying Tips from St. Thomas Aquinas

• Do not plunge directly in the ocean, but approach it slowly by way of little streams. Difficult subjects should not be tried until easier ones are mastered.

• Love silence. Do not jump at every opportunity for recreation.

• A good conscience is precious. Guard its purity. Always make time for prayer.

• Be content with the quiet of your room. Learn to love the atmosphere of peace wherein you may grow in wisdom.

• Try to be friendly toward everybody while being familiar with nobody. Familiarity breeds distractions that retard study.

• Do not get involved in the affairs of others. Avoid pointless conversations and useless readings.

• Study the lives of the saints and good men. Try to follow their example.

• Who says something does not matter. Pay attention to what is said, and remember it.

• Try to understand what you read. Do not pass over things you are not sure of. Check them.

• Fill your mind and your memory as though you were filling a vessel to the brim.

• Follow Saint Paul's advice – do not try to grasp what is beyond your reach.

If this advice seems to say as much about living as about learning, it is because learning and living in reality do overlap and influence each other.
